Keinan Briggs: The Mastermind Behind Greatness in the Jumps
May 22, 2025Keinan Briggs has never been just a coach, he’s been a visionary in the world of horizontal jumps. Since 2009, Briggs has redefined what it means to develop athletes, lead programs, and impact the sport from the inside out.
Long before the world knew his name, Briggs was documenting his own journey. In 2003, he became a certified personal trainer. By 2007, he had already shifted his focus toward athletic performance and began working directly with youth athletes. But it was in 2009 that he truly stepped into his zone — using his deep background as an athlete to create innovative jump training systems that would eventually influence athletes and coaches around the world.
In 2011, he launched a private high school training program. A year later, he was hired at the prestigious Mater Dei High School, where over the course of eight seasons, Briggs helped produce five individual CIF jump champions, contributed to two CIF team championships, and played a role in winning a state championship. More importantly, he never stopped documenting his journey.
To date, Keinan Briggs has created over 1,200 educational videos, all focused on helping other athletes and coaches master the art and science of the horizontal jumps. His transparency, consistency, and commitment to education are a big part of why he’s trusted not only by high schoolers, but also by elite jumpers worldwide.
In 2012, Briggs founded the Leap Squad Track Club, originally as a local resource for Southern California athletes. Fast forward to today, and Leap Squad is a global brand with a virtual academy of jumpers from across the U.S. and beyond. What makes this year especially remarkable is the performance of his current athletes.
A Historic Year for LEAP Squad Athletes
Coach Briggs now works exclusively through his Leap Squad Track Club and Virtual Academy. And 2025 has proven to be one of the most dominant years yet.
He currently coaches three of the top five jumpers in the United States:
-
Andrew Robinson (U20 USA #4 Triple Jump – 15.14m / 49'6")
-
Roxy Meyer (U20 USA #2 Triple Jump – 12.63m / 41'6")
-
Kemonie Briggs (USA #1 Long Jump – 8.15m / 26'9")
Andrew and Roxy have both decided to forgo college programs and continue full-time development under Briggs through Leap Squad. Their performances validate the model — that with the right leadership, consistency, and education, top-tier results can be achieved outside of traditional systems.
“These athletes are not just talented,” Briggs says. “They’re students of the craft. I’ve made a ‘game’ out of this coaching thing, and I’m really having fun with it all.”
Why What Briggs Is Doing Matters
From my perspective, what makes Keinan Briggs different isn’t just his results, it’s how he gets them.
-
He was one of the first to document everything long before it was trendy to do so. His transparency created trust.
-
He trained coaches just as much as athletes which multiplies his impact beyond just one team or city.
-
He created a model that doesn’t rely on expensive college systems to produce greatness.
-
He took the same blueprint that worked in person, and scaled it virtually to serve the world.
In a sport that often lacks innovation and access, Briggs has created both. He’s proof that coaching can be a craft, a business, and a calling, all at once.
He’s not just building jumpers. He’s building belief systems. Athletes under Keinan Briggs don’t just jump farther, they think deeper, work smarter, and grow stronger.
This isn't just a good year for Coach Briggs. It's the confirmation of a legacy he’s been building for nearly two decades.
