The biggest moments are reserved for athletes willing to rise when everything is on the line.

On Saturday night at Buchanan High School, LEAP Squad athlete Dane Malloy did exactly that.

Competing against the best jumpers in California at the CIF State Championships, Malloy entered the Triple Jump Final ranked third after preliminaries with a mark of 48'3¼". The competition was loaded with talent, and every athlete remaining was capable of producing a championship-winning performance.

But champions find another gear.

After opening the competition with a foul, Dane responded with a series of outstanding jumps, including marks of 48'2", 48'4¾", and 48'9¼". As the competition intensified, so did the pressure.

With only a few jumps remaining, Dane uncorked a massive 49'2¾" jump to move himself into contention for the state title.

Then came the final round.

Knowing exactly what was at stake, Dane attacked the board one last time and soared to a lifetime best of 49'11¼", securing the California State Championship and becoming the best high school triple jumper in California on the biggest stage of the season.

The victory capped an incredible weekend for the Aliso Niguel senior.

Earlier in the meet, Dane qualified for the State Final in the Long Jump with a mark of 22'8". He also advanced through the Triple Jump prelims before delivering one of the most memorable performances of his career in the championship final.

The road to a state title is never easy.

It requires years of training, countless practices, setbacks, adjustments, belief, and the courage to perform when the pressure is highest.

On Saturday night, all of that preparation paid off.

Dane Malloy leaves Buchanan High School as a California State Champion.

For LEAP Squad, it is another reminder of what is possible when talent, coaching, commitment, and belief come together.

The mission has always been bigger than marks and medals.

But this one feels pretty special.

Congratulations to California State Champion Dane Malloy.
