STATE FINALS BOUND: MALLOY AND EGGELSTON DELIVER ON CALIFORNIA'S BIGGEST STAGE

The road to the California State Championships is never easy.

To earn a spot among the best athletes in California, competitors must survive one of the deepest and most competitive postseason paths in the country. This weekend, LEAP Squad athletes Dane Malloy and Colton Eggleston proved they belong among the state's elite.

Both athletes advanced to the California State Championship Finals at Buchanan High School after delivering clutch performances in Friday's preliminary round.

Dane Malloy wasted no time making his statement.

On his very first attempt in the boys long jump, Malloy soared 22'8", a mark that secured his place in Saturday's State Final. The jump held up throughout the competition and punched his ticket to compete for a California State medal.

Colton Eggleston showed tremendous composure throughout the competition.

After battling through the early rounds, Eggleston delivered when it mattered most, jumping 22'5" on his second attempt to secure his place among the top jumpers in California and earn a spot in Saturday's State Championship Final.

For both athletes, advancing to the State Final is a testament to the work they've put in all season long and their ability to perform under pressure.

But Dane wasn't finished.

Later in the evening, he returned for the boys triple jump and delivered another huge performance. Malloy jumped 48'3" to finish third overall in the preliminary round and advance to the State Championship Final later that evening.

Now the spotlight gets even brighter.

Colton Eggleston and Dane Malloy will compete in the boys long jump State Final today at 4:45 PM, while Dane returns to compete for a State medal in the triple jump final at 7:30 PM.

Just a few months ago, these moments were goals written down on paper.

Today, they are reality.

No matter what happens next, both athletes have already proven they can compete with the very best California has to offer.

And LEAP Squad isn't finished yet.
